England has been lead the 5 match series of 3-0. The Ashes series has been won by the host England. Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. Chris Rogers and David Warner open for Australia first. James Anderson and Stuart Broad  began the England's attack. Four bowlers Anderson, Broad, Swann and Woakes are  employed by England's Captain for 12 overs. After 5 overs Australia got by 11/1. The first wicket for England was David Warner. After first wicket Shane Watson came to the field. Rogers and  Watson made a partnership more than 100 runs.

After 34 over Rogers catch outed by Swann. Australia got 120/2. Then the Australian Captain Michael Clarke came to the field. Already  Watson achieved 50. Clark could not stayed after 43 over. He got only 7 runs. Then Steven Smith came to bat. Watson made his hundred at 45 over.

After than Watson and Smith made a big partnership to make the big score. After 69 over Watson got 150 and Smith 31 runs. The score was 228/3. Smith also got 50 after 81 over. Watson got a big score, 176 runs and back to the pavilion after 88 over. Smith and Watson made the game today. Peter Siddle came to the field and he got 18 runs by facing only 15 bowls. At last the first day ends at 90 over Australia got 307/4. Steven Smith 66 and Siddle 18.

It was a great day for Smith and Watson. They made the day for Australia. Australia played batter because it was totally flat batting pitch.
